The following events are held by the Werner Oechslin Library Foundation:: 1. International baroque summer courses Einsiedeln with its monastery is one of the most important baroque monastery sites in Switzerland, and is without a doubt the best place to pursue baroque studies. Every year a summer course takes place here, serving in particular to facilitate exchange and meeting between young researchers and experienced academics, and addressing a specific theme each time (such as Baroque and Ideas of Universalism, Baroque and the Modern Day, Migration, Baroque and Gothic etc. etc.) The baroque period can today be seen as a case model illustrating problems of interlinking and complexity. The striving to bring history and theory into direct encounter with current interdisciplinary issues and questions will hopefully lead to new academic insights. 2. Einsiedeln architectural discussions The aim is to hold regular discussions on current and principally important themes of architecture, with the participation of prominent, international figures. Such "discussion" means intense exchange in which experience and spontaneous modes of expression are as important as efforts to formulate solutions for the problems of modern architecture. 3. Conventions/conferences The Werner Oechslin Library's cultural history focus will be rendered increasingly concrete and specific in recurring conferences and larger conventions. Following conferences on Piero della Francesca, Hypnerotomachia Poliphili, Ruskin, Viollet-le Duc and Semper, further events are being planned which aim to offer the opportunity to check individual research papers against the source material available.
